Western Acupuncture & Dry Needling
Western Acupuncture & Dry Needling
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine dating back thousands of years. It is the use of a fine needle inserted into the body along “Meridian Lines” which are specific, pre-determined spots. These lines or “qi” are said to help improve the flow of energy throughout the body, improving blood flow/circulation.
Dry Needling is the insertion of a fine needle into a trigger point or muscle “knot” in the body, aimed to elicit a local twitch response of the muscle. Dry needling causes increased circulation and oxygenation to the local tissues, stimulates the release of endorphins (“feel good” hormone). Dry needling can help improve muscle length, decrease muscle tension, improve range of movement, decrease pain and assist in reducing local swelling
